THE SCHOOL CREST

The school Crest is a shield divided into three sections. One section depicts three birds, representing the egrets, which were once plentiful on Grand Bahama; the second shows the indigenous scrub pine, and the third section bears the image of a sailing ship (from Columbus’ era).

The scroll at the top of the shield bears the name of the school in capitals… BISHOP MICHAEL ELDON SCHOOL - the new name which took effect 1st September, 2005, by an Act of Synod 2004. On the scroll at the bottom of the shield is written the motto in Latin “Lux Mentis Lux Orbis - Invenire Veritatem”, an expression meaning literally “The Light of the Mind, The Light of the World - Discover the Truth” Freely translated it means “Education enlightens Mankind.”
